International Women's Day 2026: Berwick
12 Mar 2026 10:15 AM - 12 Mar 2026 12:00 PM
Berwick - Building 903 - Room 1117
All staff and students are invited to join this year’s cross-campus event for International Women’s Day, where we will hear from experts about how to Balance the Scales, the theme for IWD 2026.
Balance the Scales is a call for a world where every woman and girl – regardless of background or identity – is safe, heard, and free to shape her own future.
Yet in 2026, millions across Australia and around the world are still denied this fair go. Discriminatory laws, gender-based violence, and under-resourced justice systems continue to limit access to justice. Even where legal protections exist, many women face high costs, long delays, limited legal aid, and processes that can re-traumatise survivors. These barriers are even greater for First Nations women and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
The challenges are deeply rooted but not inevitable - they have been built, and they can be dismantled.
